The heavy trucks DAF 95 series appeared in 1987, ten years later the abbreviation XF (Extra Forte) was added to the numbers, meaning the creation of a particularly powerful (Extra Forte) model, and in 2002 the 95XF was replaced by the XF95 series with a new cab.

The chassis of the XF95 series has a total weight of 18 (4 × 2 wheel arrangement), 25.7 (6 × 2), 26 (6 × 2), 26.5 (6 × 2 and 6 × 4), 32 (8 × 4) and 35.5 t (8 × 2). Truck tractors are manufactured with a wheel arrangement of 4x2 (gross weight - 18 tons, as part of a truck- 40 tons), 6x2 (from 23 to 26 tons, as part of a truck- 44 tons), 6x4 (26 tons, as a part of a truck- 60 tons) and 8x4 (36 tons, in the composition of the truck - 50 tons). The wheelbase for the chassis is from 4.2 to 6.9 m, for biaxial truck tractors - 3.6 and 3.8 m, for 3-axle vehicles - from 3.1 to 4.55 m, for 4-axle tractors - 4.6 m.

For the trucks, there are two options for double cabins with a width of 2490 mm: XF Space Cab with an internal height of 1885 mm and XF Super Space Cab - 2255 mm (internal volume is 1.1 m3). Cabins are still considered one of the most comfortable. The noise level in the cabin does not exceed 66 dB (A) at a speed of 85 km / h.

On trucks, 6-cylinder 24-valve DAF XE diesel engines are installed with a working volume of 12.6 liters and a power of 381, 428, 483 and 530 hp. Engines equipped with UPEC's proprietary DAF fuel injection system, which uses nozzles with electronically controlled individual pumps, meet Euro-3 standards. Fuel consumption at a crankshaft speed of 1200 rpm for a 381-hp engine is 196, for a 428-hp - 195, for the two most powerful - 192 g / kWh.

Engines are linked with a ServoShift 16-speed manual gearbox or AS-Tronic robotic gearbox. The DAF rear axle is equipped with a hypoid gear. On trucks designed for use on poor roads, wheel gears are installed.

All versions feature ventilated disc brakes front and rear. The truck is equipped with an electronic brake system EBS, including ABS, traction control ASR and emergency braking Brake Assist. As an option, a VSC motion stabilization system is installed.

The appearance of the XF105 series with a new engine in 2005 was caused by the need to create a new flagship truck that meets the requirements of Euro-4 / Euro-5. This most modern and expensive series, therefore, does not replace the XF95 trucks, which will be produced for countries where Euro-3 standards continue to apply.

The chassis of the XF105 series is available in gross weight 18 (4 × 2 wheel arrangement), 24.9 (6 × 2), 25.087 (6 × 2), 25.7 (6 × 2), 26 (6 × 2) and 32 t (8 × 4). The wheelbase is from 4.2 to 6.9 m. Truck tractors have a 4x2 wheel arrangement (gross weight - 18 tons, as part of a train - 40 tons), 6x2 (from 23 to 26 tons, as part of a train - 44 tons), 6x4 (26 tons, in the composition of the train - 60 tons) and 8x4 (36 tons, in the composition of the train - 58 tons).

The wheelbase of 2-axle truck tractors is 3.6 m, of 3-axle vehicles - from 3.1 to 4.55 m, of 4-axle tractors - 4.8 m. Tractors with a low position of a linking device (96 cm) can be transported as a part of a train, height which does not exceed 3 m, cargo up to 100 m3.

Externally, the XF105 truck is distinguished by a new design of a steel bumper with four round foglights, a large radiator grille inlaid with an aluminum decorative strip, new side and rear rear-view mirrors made in the color of the cabin, xenon headlights, as well as additional projector-type headlights integrated into Super Space Cab Roof.

The principal difference between the interior of the XF105 cabin, compared to the XF95, is the greatly reduced tubercle of the floor tunnel, which is associated with the use of new PACCAR MX engines, which have a lower height than DAF XE motors. The instrument panel is more richly decorated - under aluminum or wood. In addition, an additional pointer indicator of the AdBlue additive level in the urea tank is located on the instrument panel.

PACCAR MX motors installed on XF105 machines have a power of 410, 460 and 510 hp. The capacity of the tank with AdBlue is 50 or 75 liters (a tank with such a volume can be enough for 4.5 k kilometers).
